Mikumi National Park

Mikumi National Park is the fourth largest wildlife national park in Tanzania, covering about 1,250 sq miles,and the most accessible by land transport, since the highway connecting Tanzania commercial and largest city (Dar es Salaam) and Iringa cut across the park.The park was gazetted as a National park in 1964 and now has been categorized as the major hotspot for the travel industry in the country.

The landscapes in the Park can easily be compared to those of the Serengeti National Park as acacias, baobabs and tamarinds dot the savannah.It is famous for its healthy populations of elephants and buffaloes which can easily be spotted out on the plains. The tamarind trees are among the favourite spot for elephants and giraffes that spend a lot of time for eating their fruits.

The park hosts different species of animals, Birds, reptiles and more class of Kingdom. Among the interested animals in the park are elephants, Zebras, Leopards, Giraffes, Wildebeests, Lions, baboons,Buffaloes and etc.

The most reliable site to watch the aforementioned wildlife is around the Mkata floodplain, to the northwest of the highway. Owing to its position, nearby to main gateway city of international flight and the numbers of wildlife that live inside the park, makes Mikumi National Park a better choice for those travelers who don’t have much time spend in holiday but also want to enjoy a wildlife safari in Tanzania National Park.
