Prison Island

The island was formerly owned by an Arab used for confinement of refractory slaves. It was bought by General Mathews and the prison name which still exists was built in 1893. It was never actually used as a prison but rather as a quarantine hospital. The journey will start near the Old harbour by using a local speed boat in which you will see a beautiful sky view of Zanzibar Old Stone Town. After 30 minutes, guest will visit to the historic Prison Island with its giant land tortoise which lived more than 200 years. While on the island also you will be able to swim, sunbathe and snorkel deep to see coral reef and marine species.
